Laikipia Patas Monkey Survey

To manage Laikipia’s patas population, it is important to monitor changes in its distribution and size. Twelve years ago a patas survey was conducted in Laikipia by Isbell and Chism (2007). This year the Eastern Africa Primate Diversity and Conservation Program, in cooperation with the Lolldaiga Hills Biodiversity Research Program, is conducting a new survey of this population (click here to read the announcement of this survey in the Laikipia Wildlife Forum Newsletter). As for the previous surveys, much of the data will be obtained through a questionnaire. All owners/managers of large properties in Laikipia are invited to take a few minutes to complete the questionnaire found below.

If you are not a landowner/manager, but have encountered patas in Laikipia (or elsewhere in East Africa) we would appreciated learning more about your observation. Please click here to make a record or your sighting.
